Day 42 O'Cebreiro to Biduedo

I looked up at the sky light this morning and all I could see was blue sky. To see that in the morning on O'Cebreiro is just amazing as usually there is fog.
I did not rush to leave this morning at all as knew I was not going to push high mileage. I did not have the likes of Jayne around to motivate me to do it.
I started my walk and met a young guy named Kevin on the path. He is 10 years younger than me. I reminded him that we spoke at the chapel when he entered the village rather late yesterday afternoon.
We got into some discussions as to why we on Camino, it's a common occurrence. Here came another sign,  Kevin works for travel company in Belgium specialising in hiking tours for the younger age groups. What were the chances that we would cross paths at the exact same time this morning. We had an awesome chat walking to Liñares, San Roque and onto Hospital de la Condesa where we parted ways as I needed breakfast.
I stopped at a bar at Hospital de la Condesa and there I found Renske the young Dutch lady I cross paths with on a regular basis. We had a great chat over breakfast catching up on the Camino happenings of the last few days since we last saw one another.
I then walked along a steep path up through the farm village of Padornelo up to Alto do Poio. I stopped for a much needed drink.
I was feeling rather tired but I knew I had a few more km's left in me.
I walked to Fonfría, the town is growing due to the Camino. I bumped into the Australian lady I met yesterday, enjoyed a drink and chat.
At this point I just wanted to stop for the night. I arrived at Biduedo and there found Kevin and Renske having lunch, I think I know to many people on the Camino.
Anneke and her son Marcus were also there, I first met them coming out of Ponfarrada the other day.
So I checked into Casa Quiroga for the night as did Anneke and Marcus. Kevin and Renske headed on to cover more mileage.
I just love Biduedo, it's the smallest little farming village I have ever seen with spectacular views.
I would hate to be with the Camino masses in the next town.
A young lady, her father and dog walked  passed the Casa. They started in Germany at the beginning of February. They often sleep in a tent or farmers barns due to having the dog with them.
I enjoyed a quiet dinner with Marcus and Anneke.
If all goes well I will add 6.4km's to my route tomorrow to get to Samos. They have one of the oldest monasteries in the western world.
I think an afternoon tour is on the cards.

  1. You really are meeting some wonderful people from everywhere. I was talking to my friend Cathy who is also following your blog and she suggests that you check a web site called secret Scotland as it might be similar to what you want to do.
Darren, keep up the great work/walk. You are getting so close.
