Day 12 Logroño to Ventosa

After a really good nights rest we awoke to a yummy breakfast. The owners of the Pensión walked the Camino last year and clearly know what us Pilgrims require from a fuel perspective.
The Pensión was approx 1 km off the beaten track in the easterly direction, this mean't an extra km added to the day's walk. It actually does make a difference and trust me you can feel it.
We set off around 8:30am and it took about 4km's to get through Logroño. We walked passed the Fuente de Los Peregrinos  decorated  with Jacobean motifs. In the modern square we found mosaics representing the pilgrimage in a large board game called Juega de Oca. I took a couple of pics.
From the old town we walked along the busy city roads with people heading to work and parents taking kids to school. How odd, it is a Monday and it means nothing to me, it's actually day 12 in my life, works for me at the moment.
The Camino then takes you up along a reservoir wall into a pine forest. Here we found people fishing and they were catching their fair share of fish.
Just beyond the wall we found Café Cabaña del Tio Juarvi, pit stop for us and a Sello (stamp) in our Camino passport. After a fanta orange and some nuts we headed up the steep hill towards Alto de la Grajera.
At Alto de la Grajera we had lovely views back of Logroño, the best moments ever. Every day I see something new and beautiful, I am so blessed to be doing this Camino.

7km's later we arrived in Navarrete, just in time for lunch. By this time my left toe was talking a bit, pulled out the sheeps wool and anti-chafe cream. A little precaution prevents a blister and it worked.

The town of Navarrete is a beautiful historic Camino town, they have made a huge effort to preserve the old period houses. The 16th century church overlooks the top square.

At this point we had more energy so we carried on for another 7km's to Ventosa along a dusty track in the hot sun. I wore my arm guards to avoid sunburn.
We checked into Albergue San Saturnino, a large Hostel. We have a total of 8 people in our room. At least everything is clean, not complaining at all considering we paid 9.50 Euro.
After 20km's I think we managed just fine.
This evening we had a lovely meal in the town with other pilgrims.
